Living Tokyo – Plot Twist and Big Question Mark

Hi everyone, how is life going? Are you ready to leave behind this 2019 and enter the brand new 2020? I am currently trying to enjoy these holidays after stressing up with school’s exams (I passed!), the Business Japanese Test, and the end of my Internship with my former company. A huge chapter of my life has just ended, and next year starts with a big question mark! But let’s proceed with one step at a time, and have a look to the latest news. Enjoy reading 😊

Funny things in funny Tokyo
Towards the end of the school I enjoyed Meetups with friends; I had a calligraphy class (I am not good at it, so I drew some cute animals); and I visited an animal café in Ikebukuro where I could cuddle hedgehogs, flying squirrels, and otters! On the last day of school, we had the usual party, where I sang a couple of songs (I may share the performance with you on my YouTube Channel, but today is not the day). Once entered in the holiday seasons I visited the TeamLab Planets (very nice!), did ice skating, and visited a typical market for the end of the year shopping near Ueno park (cover picture).

Christmas in Tokyo
This year, differently from the last one where I went back to Europe for Christmas, I remained in Tokyo. I enjoyed a couple of Bonenkai (忘年会, literally “forget the year gathering”) with friends, former colleagues, and also Japanese comedians! I had two pleasant Christmas dinners on the 24th and the 25th with friends, eating sushi and other delicious dishes. Finally, I could not miss the Christmas lights: This year I changed locations and visited the illuminations in Shibuya, Ebisu, and Meguro river.

Many reasons to go back, more to stay
Here comes the plot twist! I have a bad and a good piece of news: The bad one is that I cannot continue living in Japan. My student visa is expiring, so I have to go back to Europe and continue my job search from there. Thus, these days I am also preparing my apartment for moving out, closing the bank account, announcing the town hall that I am leaving… I am sad. In Europe I have my family, my old friends, but now here I also built strong friendships, routines, and well, I found love. Oh yes, Elly fell in love! Who’s the handsome and mysterious guy who stole her heart? His name is Jack, and you can follow him on YouTube, a friend recruited him to be the face of an amazing Channel called Mipon. It is about Anime (pilgrimage, cafés, events, and more), enjoy! This was the good news. I cannot live in more places at the same time, so I will find a way to manage the new life that awaits me.

Endings and beginnings
What will happen to the blog and Elly Lakes? Being away from Japan for a while does not mean I will stop talking about it! No way! On the contrary, I will have more time to create new contents… Stay tuned! Speaking about Japan and the future, tomorrow is the last day of 2019, uh? I think I will visit Comiket (コミケット Komiketto) which is the biggest event dedicated to comics in the world. Then with friends we will probably go eating in an Izakaya and prepare for the Count Down in Shibuya. Follow my social media pages to celebrate with me! And see you in the next year!

Ciao a tutti, come va la vita? Siete pronti a lasciarvi dietro questo 2019 ed entrare nel nuovissimo 2020? Al momento io sto cercando di godermi queste vacanze dopo essermi stressata con gli esami di scuola (li ho superati!), Il Business Japanese Test e la fine del mio tirocinio con la mia ex azienda. Un capitolo enorme della mia vita è appena finito e l’anno prossimo inizia con un grande punto interrogativo! Ma procediamo un passo alla volta e diamo un’occhiata alle ultime notizie. Buona lettura 😊

Cose divertenti nella divertente Tokyo
Verso la fine della scuola mi sono divertita ai Meetup con gli amici; ho fatto una lezione di calligrafia (non sono brava, quindi ho disegnato alcuni simpatici animaletti); e ho visitato un animal café a Ikebukuro, dove ho potuto coccolare ricci, scoiattoli volanti e lontre! L’ultimo giorno di scuola, abbiamo avuto la solita festa, in cui ho cantato un paio di canzoni (potrei condividere la performance con voi sul mio canale YouTube, ma oggi non è il giorno). Una volta entrata nelle festività natalizie, ho visitato il TeamLab Planets (molto bello!), ho fatto pattinaggio sul ghiaccio e ho visitato un tipico mercato per lo shopping di fine anno vicino al parco di Ueno (immagine di copertina).

Natale a Tokyo
Quest’anno, diversamente dallo scorso in cui sono tornata in Europa per Natale, sono rimasta a Tokyo. Mi sono divertita a un paio di Bonenkai (忘年会, letteralmente “la riunione per dimenticare l’anno passato”) con amici, ex colleghi e anche comici giapponesi! Ho trascorso due piacevoli cene di Natale il 24 e il 25 con gli amici, mangiando sushi e altri deliziosi piatti. Infine, non potevano mancare le luci di Natale: quest’anno ho cambiato luoghi e ho visitato le luminarie di Shibuya, Ebisu e il fiume Meguro.

Molti motivi per tornare indietro, più per restare
Ecco che arriva il colpo di scena! Ho una brutta e una buona notizia: la brutta è che non posso continuare a vivere in Giappone. Il mio visto per studenti sta scadendo, quindi devo tornare in Europa e continuare la mia ricerca di lavoro da lì. Quindi, in questi giorni sto anche preparando il mio appartamento per uscire, chiudere il conto in banca, annunciare al municipio che me ne sto andando… Sono triste. In Europa ho la mia famiglia, i miei vecchi amici, ma ora qui ho anche stretto forti amicizie, routine ed ebbene sì, ho trovato l’amore. Oh sì, Elly si è innamorata! Chi è il ragazzo bello e misterioso che le ha rubato il cuore? Si chiama Jack, e potete seguirlo su YouTube, un amico lo ha reclutato per essere il volto di un fantastico canale chiamato Mipon. Parla di Anime (pellegrinaggio, caffè, eventi e altro), buona visione! Questa è la buona notizia. Non posso vivere in più posti contemporaneamente, quindi troverò un modo per gestire la nuova vita che mi aspetta.

Fine e inizio
Che cosa accadrà al blog e a Elly Lakes? Stare lontana dal Giappone per un po’ non significa che smetterò di parlarne! Assolutamente no! Al contrario, avrò più tempo per creare nuovi contenuti… Restate sintonizzati! Parlando del Giappone e del futuro, domani è l’ultimo giorno del 2019, eh? Penso che visiterò il Comiket (コミケット Komiketto) che è il più grande evento dedicato al fumetto al mondo. Quindi con gli amici probabilmente andremo a mangiare in un Izakaya e ci prepareremo per il conto alla rovescia a Shibuya. Seguite le mie pagine sui social media per festeggiare con me!
