Secret Revealed: I’m Gonna Live in Japan!

Some days ago, I published a teaser on my YouTube channel regarding my departure from the tiny city of Lugano (Switzerland) to the giant one of Tokyo (Japan). I want to give you some more pieces of information about it.

While I am writing this article, I am sitting on the plane that took off from Milano Malpensa on January 1^st, to arrive at Tokyo Narita on January 2^nd. My iPhone wrongly says it’s almost midnight. Outside the window, the sun is rising and the clouds seem a cotton candy blanket. In these moments, I forget that I fear flying 😉

I am not alone in this trip, Roberto is with me. Once in Tokyo, we will first stay in an Airbnb and then move to my final apartment. I cannot wait to see it, it is completely Japanese style: Very tiny, surrounded by other little houses, and located near a train station and a konbini (コンビニ, convenience store).

Roberto will be back home while my school will begin! I will study Japanese in one of the most popular Tokyo’s neighbourhoods: Shinjuku. I have been studying it already for two years in Lugano, but an intensive course in Japan’s capital will surely boost my knowledge and confidence 😊

To survive, I will search for an arubaito (アルバイト, from the German word “Arbeit”), that in Japanese means part-time job. Did you know that in Japan you can work part-time for 28 hours per week? They are famous for being hard workers. That will surely help me practicing the language!

I will continue taking pictures, and travel across the country if I can. For this reason, I called this adventure “Inside Japan – Living Tokyo!”, relating it to “Inside Japan – The Exhibition”. I want to make the “Inside Japan experience” more interesting everyday 😊

Qualche giorno fa ho pubblicato un teaser sul mio canale YouTube riguardo la mia partenza dalla piccola città di Lugano (Svizzera) a quella gigantesca di Tokyo (Giappone). Voglio darvi qualche informazione in più a riguardo.

Mentre scrivo questo articolo siedo sull’aereo decollato da Milano Malpensa il 1 gennaio che arriverà a Tokyo Narita il 2 gennaio. Il mio iPhone dice erroneamente che è quasi mezzanotte. Fuori dalla finestra il sole sta sorgendo e le nuvole sembrano una coperta di zucchero filato. In questi momenti, dimentico che ho paura di volare 😉

Non sono sola in questo viaggio, c’è Roberto con me. Una volta arrivati a Tokyo, alloggeremo dapprima in un Airbnb e poi entreremo nel mio appartamento finale. Non vedo l’ora di vederlo, è completamente in stile giapponese: molto piccolo, circondato da altre casette, e situato vicino a una stazione ferroviaria e a un konbini (コ ン ビ ニ, convenience store/minimarket).

Roberto tornerà a casa mentre per me inizierà la scuola! Studierò giapponese in uno dei quartieri più popolari di Tokyo: Shinjuku. Lo studio già da due anni a Lugano, ma un corso intensivo nella capitale giapponese sicuramente aumenterà le mie conoscenze e la fiducia in me stessa 🙂

Per sopravvivere, cercherò un arubaito (ア ル バ イ, dal tedesco “Arbeit”), che in giapponese significa lavoro part-time. Lo sapevate che in Giappone si può lavorare part-time per 28 ore alla settimana? Sono famosi per essere dei gran lavoratori. Questo sicuramente mi aiuterà a praticare la lingua!

Continuerò a fotografare e viaggerò attraverso il paese se posso. Per questo motivo, ho chiamato questa avventura “Inside Japan – Living Tokyo!“, legandola a “Inside Japan – The Exhibition“. Voglio rendere l’esperienza “Inside Japan” più interessante ogni giorno 🙂
