Escape to Switzerland – Ticino Secret Paths (Part Two)

Hello everybody! How are you? I am fine and Japan seems to be doing good as well, since amusement parks are slowly reopening. Let’s hope it will welcome travellers from abroad soon! Here in Europe, summer has finally come, it is warm, the sun is shining bright, so it is time to talk about the secret paths of Ticino, in the beautiful south of Switzerland.

This is my second chapter regarding Ticino region. Later, you can read the first article about this great place. Before exploring, remember that it would be better to have a car for more flexibility, but also buses and trains work perfectly in Switzerland. Let’s go!

“Scenic Trail” in Capriasca
Do you know Lugano, a very cute city by the lake? It is my city, and it is usually a must see in Ticino. Well, Capriasca is just behind it, reachable in less than 30 minutes by car or by bus. This area is full of great paths for hiking! We chose to walk a part of what is called “Scenic Trail”, a very pleasant one I must say. Since Capriasca is quite elevated, from there you can have an amazing view of the entire Lugano’s bay. Your Instagram followers will thank you for sure. Together with the views and great green scenery, this trail is full of animals as well! The reason is because there are some farms where people live and work. There are cows of different colours and sizes, horses, and also super cute ponies! They may be wandering free or inside wide fenced fields. For this reason, I find this place amazing for families with kids as well, because they can completely connect with nature. For the ones who want to walk a lot, it is possible to go up until the top of the mountain, a thing we did not do at that time.

“Giro del Monte Caslano” near Caslano
On the opposite side, always around 30 minutes by car or train from Lugano, we can find another beautiful piece of paradise: The Caslano’s lake walk. It is a circle around Mount Caslano, also called Sassalto, of two hours circa. If you are full of energies, you can also hike until the mountain’s top. That day me and my parents decided to walk only on the circle, because the rain of the days before our visit made the mountain’s path a little bit muddy. The circle is partly on the street, partly in the woods, and entirely along the lake. Being able to see the blue water throughout the walk made me feel in peace. You will start your journey among the bars, restaurants, and other facilities, then proceed on a trail inside the woods, until you come out to the street again, where you will see Italy on the other side of the lake! Those are the cities of Lavena Ponte Tresa and the Italian part of Ponte Tresa. I was shocked about how beautiful the view was, and I highly recommend this path also if you have kids.

“Sentiero Lago di Lugano 52” near Pura
Near Caslano, but a little bit up the mountains, there is the village of Pura, which has many great mountain paths surrounding it! We followed a part of the so called “Sentiero Lago di Lugano 52”, which creates a circle through the woods with some easy climbs, little footpaths, and tiny coloured houses. During this hike, I saw a beautiful deer running around as well. You can also find a playground for kids. In some areas, you can see little waterfalls and rivers, with which it is possible to relax hearing the sound of water. If you have a mountain bike, near this hike there is a special trail that you can go through with your bike. Actually, there are many different footpaths one can do, but we continued following the number 52. Next time we may try another adventure! Also in this case, everything seemed good for kids as well.

Ciao a tutti! Come state? Io sto bene e anche il Giappone sembra stare bene, poiché i parchi divertimento stanno lentamente riaprendo. Speriamo che accolga presto i viaggiatori dall’estero! Qui in Europa è finalmente arrivata l’estate, fa caldo, il sole splende forte, è quindi tempo di parlare dei sentieri segreti del Ticino, nello splendido sud della Svizzera.

Questo è il mio secondo capitolo sulla regione del Ticino. Più tardi, potete leggere il primo articolo su questo fantastico luogo. Prima di esplorare, ricordatevi che sarebbe meglio avere un’auto per una maggiore flessibilità, ma anche autobus e treni funzionano perfettamente in Svizzera. Partiamo!

“Scenic Trail” a Capriasca
Conoscete Lugano, una città molto carina sul lago? È la mia città, e di solito è una tappa da vedere in Ticino. Bene, la Capriasca è appena dietro, raggiungibile in meno di 30 minuti in auto o in autobus. Questa zona è piena di fantastici percorsi per le escursioni! Abbiamo scelto di percorrere una parte di quello che viene chiamato “Scenic Trail”, molto piacevole, devo dire. Dal momento che la Capriasca è piuttosto elevata, da lì si può avere una vista meravigliosa sull’intera baia di Lugano. I vostri follower su Instagram vi ringrazieranno sicuramente. Insieme ai panorami e agli splendidi scenari di verde, il percorso è anche pieno di animali! Il motivo è perché ci sono alcune fattorie in cui le persone vivono e lavorano. Ci sono mucche di diversi colori e dimensioni, cavalli e anche pony super carini! Possono vagare liberi o all’interno di ampi campi recintati. Per questo motivo, trovo questo posto fantastico anche per famiglie con bambini, perché possono connettersi completamente con la natura. Per quelli che vogliono camminare molto, è possibile salire fino alla cima della montagna, cosa che non abbiamo fatto in quel momento.

“Giro del Monte Caslano” vicino a Caslano
Sul lato opposto, sempre circa 30 minuti in auto o in treno da Lugano, possiamo trovare un altro bellissimo angolo di paradiso: la passeggiata sul lago di Caslano. È un cerchio attorno al Monte Caslano, detto anche Sassalto, di circa due ore. Se siete pieni di energie, potete anche camminare fino alla cima della montagna. Quel giorno io e i miei genitori abbiamo deciso di passeggiare solo sul cerchio, perché la pioggia dei giorni precedenti la nostra visita aveva reso un po’ fangoso il sentiero della montagna. Il cerchio è in parte sulla strada, in parte nei boschi e interamente lungo lago. Essere in grado di vedere l’acqua blu durante la passeggiata mi ha fatto sentire in pace. Inizierete il vostro viaggio tra i bar, i ristoranti e le altre strutture, quindi proseguirete su un sentiero nel bosco, fino a quando non uscirete di nuovo in strada, dove vedrete l’Italia dall’altra parte del lago! Quelle sono le città di Lavena Ponte Tresa e la parte italiana di Ponte Tresa. Sono rimasta scioccata da quanto fosse bella la vista, e consiglio vivamente questo percorso anche se avete bambini.

“Sentiero Lago di Lugano 52” vicino a Pura
Vicino a Caslano, ma un po’ più su per le montagne, c’è il villaggio di Pura, che ha molti bei sentieri di montagna che lo circondano! Abbiamo seguito una parte del cosiddetto “Sentiero Lago di Lugano 52”, che crea un cerchio attraverso i boschi con facili salite, sentierini, e casette colorate. Durante questa escursione ho visto correre anche un bellissimo cervo. È inoltre possibile trovare un parco giochi per bambini. In alcune aree, è possibile vedere piccole cascate e fiumi, con i quali ci si può rilassare ascoltando il suono dell’acqua. Se avete una mountain bike, vicino a questa escursione c’è un sentiero apposito che potete percorrere con la vostra bicicletta. In realtà, ci sono molti sentieri diversi che si possono fare, ma noi ci siamo attenuti a seguire il numero 52. La prossima volta potremo provare un’altra avventura! Anche in questo caso, tutto sembrava adatto anche ai bambini.
